Coconut Oats

One of my go to breakfast dishes for any day of the week. So easy, quick, nutritious and most importantly delicious. There are so many variances to this dish by adding sunflower or pepita seeds, fresh seasonal fruits like mango and pawpaw. Stick to natural yoghurt and sweeten naturally with honey or maple syrup.


  • 1/2 cup Rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup Crushed almonds

  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

  • 2 tbsp shaved coconut

  • 1 cup 100% coconut water or enough to cover the ingredients

  • 1 tsp agave syrup

  • 1 handful fresh berries use seasonal berries

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup cranberries


  1. Place all ingredients except berries, syrup and shaved coconut in a bowl. Mix together and divide evenly into two serving bowls.

  2. Pour over coconut water until the liquid covers the ingredients. The ingredients will absorb the liquid during cooking.

  3. Place bowl in microwave and heat on high for 1min 30sec

  4. Remove from microwave and top with fresh berries, coconut shavings and drizzle with agave syrup. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

  • add chopped apple and raisins prior to heating to get an apple crumble flavour to the dish

  • Soak the ingredients overnight in the fridge to make a bircher muesli style breakfast, then top with berries, syrup and natural yoghurt
